چکیده

In the present work, fracture toughness (KIC) of full-depth (FD) fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) and layered functionally graded (FGC) matrix cracked (MC) beams has been determined by equivalent relationships two-parameter model (ETPFM). Forty-eight MC-FGC MC-FD FRC beam specimens with span-depth ratios (L/d) equal 4, 5, 6 were tested under 3PB configuration. The MC length-depth ratio (ao/d) remained constant to one-third. All have same constitutes materials hooked-end steel fiber volume fraction equals 1%. FGC are composed three layers, i.e., in bottom layer at tension side, normal strength (NSC) middle layer, high upper compression side. results showed that predicted values KIC obtained from ETPFM considered logic according maximum size non-damaged defect concept. crack mouth opening displacement estimated acceptable close experimental results. calculated within presence fibers front through for having 1% SFs is more than twice value NSC.

Fracture toughness of dental composites determined using the short-rod fracture toughness test.

Plane strain fracture toughness (KIC) has been evaluated for a number of commercially-available dental composites. A modified Short-rod Fracture Toughness (SRFT) specimen design has been used, enabling small specimens to be tested conveniently. The effect on KIC of aging in water at 37 degrees C for seven days, one month, and six months has been determined for conventional, microfilled, and hyb...

NUREG/CR-6342 "Fracture Toughness Testing with Cracked Round Bars: Feasiblity Study"

SRI International has investigated the feasibility of measuring representative toughness values for nuclear pressure vessel materials using small cracked round bars (CRBs). We tested a weldment material [Heavy-Section Steel Irradiation (HSSI) Weld 72W with 0.23% copper] at six temperatures (-150%, -800, -500, 00, 230, and 50'C) using CRBs and compared the fracture-toughness results with data ob...

Fracture toughness of graphene.

Perfect graphene is believed to be the strongest material. However, the useful strength of large-area graphene with engineering relevance is usually determined by its fracture toughness, rather than the intrinsic strength that governs a uniform breaking of atomic bonds in perfect graphene. To date, the fracture toughness of graphene has not been measured. Here we report an in situ tensile testi...

Mixed-mode fracture & non-planar fatigue analyses of cracked I-beams, using a 3D SGBEM–FEM Alternating Method

In the present paper, computations of mixed mode stress intensity factor (SIF) variations along the crack front, and fatigue-crack-growth simulations, in cracked I-beams, considering different load cases and initial crack configurations, are carried out by employing the three-dimensional SGBEM (Symmetric Galerkin Boundary Element Method)–FEM (Finite Element Method) Alternating Method. For mode-...
